Broken capillaries (also known as thread veins or dilated capillaries) are very common on the face, particularly around the nose and cheeks.

As we age, these tiny blood vessels lose elasticity and can become permanently dilated. Factors such as ageing, pregnancy, hormonal changes, smoking, sport, weather exposure and genetics all contribute to their appearance.

Thermocoagulation is a highly precise and effective treatment for removing visible facial capillaries. Unlike laser treatments, thermocoagulation does not use light energy. Instead, a very fine probe is used to target each individual capillary, safely sealing it and cutting off the blood supply so it is no longer visible through the skin.
